Root Canals
Painful nerve damage inside a tooth sometimes requires a root canal procedure to remove inflamed or infected soft tissues. Dr. Landreneau first gently files the infected tissue out of the root canals of the tooth, then fills the remaining space with an inert material. He completes the procedure by placing a filling or, in some cases, a crown. Despite their unpleasant reputation, most root canals cause minimal discomfort and greatly ease the pain caused by infected soft tissues. Dr. Landreneau also takes advantage of advances in technology and dental techniques to make root canal procedures more effective while taking less time.
Oral Cancer Screening
Affecting tens of thousands of Americans every year, one case in four of oral cancer proves fatal. As with most cancers, early detection is critical and raises successful treatment rates to 90% or more. Dr. Landreneau and his team of dental professionals routinely screen your oral health to note any potential abnormalities, making them your best line of defense against oral cancer. Gain the peace of mind that comes with a regular oral cancer screening from Dr. Landreneau.
Night Guards
Many people who notice mysteriously chipped or cracked teeth have sustained the damage while sleeping. Unconsciously grinding or clenching your teeth at night can eventually cause teeth to chip, crack and even break. To protect your teeth from serious damage, we recommend a dental appliance called a night guard. This soft, specially-fitted guard slips over teeth to create a protective barrier and discourage nighttime clenching or grinding. If you suffer from tension headaches, you may also find that a side benefit of your night guard is headache prevention. Many headaches start during the night, caused by the extreme pressure generated as you grind and clench your teeth. Ask our team about having a night guard custom created for you.
Mouth Guards
If your child plays sports or other similar activities, mouth guards are a great way to protect their teeth from potential injury. They’re easy to clean, come in many color combinations and are custom-molded to fit comfortably in your child’s mouth.
Professional Cleanings and Exams
We all know the importance of brushing and flossing, but even the best at-home care leaves behind plaque and tarter buildup. For a truly healthy smile, a professional dental cleaning and exam every six months is essential. During your routine cleaning, Dr. Landreneau’s team of certified dental hygienists use specialized tools to gently remove buildup that brushing and flossing can’t reach, polish teeth and remove surface stains. He next conducts a thorough exam to evaluate existing dental work such as fillings or crowns to ensure their proper functioning. Finally, Dr. Landreneau assesses your teeth for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer and other conditions that may not be felt or noticeable. Provide your teeth the health they deserve with a regular cleaning and exam from Dr. Landreneau!
